Join us on Saturday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Civic Center Library Community Rooms for a very special literary celebration of Armed Forces Day. The Oceanside Public Library and Leatherneck Publishing are proud to present 3 great military authors in a joint lecture and book signing event.

Neil Levin

Neil Levin,the author of An Angel Rode My Wing, is a 20-year veteran of Marine Aviation who served two combat tours of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Levin, a resident of Oceanside, is the founder and CEO of Leatherneck Publishing. An Angel Rode My Wing

East  East  Meets West West

At Mission Branch Library on May 17 at 11:00 a.m., Chen Hao, a multi-talented Chinese American artist, will introduce the audience to Chinese culture. His topics include art, feng shui, traditional medicine, literature, and of course cuisine. Mr. Chen holds an MFA from the University of South Carolina and has received many awards in photography and graphic arts, and has worked in the fields of writing, computers, education and finance. Refreshments will be served.

7th ANNUAL FILIPINO CULTURAL CELEBRATION
The Filipino American Cultural Association of North San Diego County along with the Oceanside Public Library and the Friends of the Library are hosting the 7th Annual Filipino Cultural Celebration on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oceanside Civic Center Library and Plaza at 330 North Coast Highway.

The day will include a traditional costume show, music, an offbeat spoof of superhero movies (shown in the Community Rooms at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m.), craft activities for children, three beauty & talent pageants, and food for sale on the plaza. Oceanside Public Library has just added a terrific new resource for children who love picture books. Check out the TumbleBook Library where you can find animated, talking picture books, puzzles, and educational games. It's also a great resource for grownups who care about children and want to help them learn and grow - it includes book descriptions, vocabulary help, quizzes for after reading, reviews of books, and author/illustrator information.
