COMPUTER POLICY
All Library computer, Internet and Wi-Fi users are required to abide by the Library’s Computer Use and Internet Access Policy, and parents are responsible for their children’s observance of it.

Wi-Fi Frequently Asked Questions and Wireless Access Policy

AT ALL LOCATIONS

  • There are no fees for computer time or access, only for printing and other services and supplies.
  • All Library computers are PCs with:
    • Microsoft Windows XP
    • Internet Explorer
    • MS Office 2003 (word processing, etc.)
    • Access to Library research databases (most also available at RESEARCH FROM HOME).
  • Selected workstations at each site may also offer software for résumé writing, typing skills and learning/literacy activities.
  • The Library maintains no individual e-mail accounts. However, e-mail is available through free e-mail services on the World Wide Web.
  • Black-and-white printing is available for 10˘ per page. Users are responsible for all pages they print—please ask staff for help!

LOCATION DETAILS
Civic Center (Main) Library : Adults & teens have 7 stations for general use and 4 for research. There are 10 computers available in the Children’s Room for users under age 14. ˇAdelante! bookmobile offers 4 PCs for adults and children. All computers at these locations are on a first-come, first-served basis, with 30-minute daily time limits. No reservations are available.

The Community Computer Center offers 26 computers and the Mission Branch Library Computer Resource Center has 19, available to users of all ages to reserve in advance or on a walk-in basis. Users are allowed up to 2 hours per day.

The Oceanside READS Literacy Center provides, at no cost, computers and computer programs for improving reading skills. For information call (760) 435-5680.

CLASSES
Free training classes are taught at the Community Computer Center, (760) 435-5660, and Mission Branch Library Computer Resource Center, (760) 435-5650, by staff or volunteers on various topics, including basic skills for beginners. Classes are announced as they are available and are first-come, first-served. Please contact the centers for details.

TRAINING ROOM
The Community Computer Center uses a 16-workstation Training Room for its public computer classes. The room is also used for other Library and City training and programs, and is available for use by outside agencies—please call (760) 435-5663 for more information.

MORE SERVICES & SUPPLIES
All locations have floppy disks available for 50˘ each.
The Community Computer Center and Mission Branch Library Computer Resource Center also offer:

  • Printing in color–—$1 per page
  • Fax service–—$1 to send/receive 1st page, 50˘ each additional
  • Scanning–—$5 per page
  • Other computer storage media and office supplies for sale
